Uninstalling Unity from Ubuntu
Please note we cannot be held responsible for data damage and system damage. If you have doubts by all means go else where and check the process up.
Please do note that you need to install some other interface before uninstalling this one.
Unity is an interface being pushed by Canonical because they need to drive adoption of Ubuntu across platforms. With Unity the focus is on hand held and touch enabled devices. Unity simply makes sense if you are using it on a touch based laptop or using a tablet (like the Google Nexus 7 with an Ubuntu port). With normal desktops with CRT monitors using Unity is simply pointless.
Unity also needs lots of RAM and cache. Unity is not going to work on old desktops because it wasn’t meant to and Canonical doesn’t care to be very honest. The best thing to do is to completely remove Unity once another interface is ready.
