If traffic is the small website owner’s largest problem, then time and money come in at a very close second and third. In a world where nothing is free, SEO for your website is going to cost you one or the other.

For most small business owners, neither time nor money is in abundance. Having said that, take heart. You can find affordable SEO, but there are a few items you need to think about before you dive into it:

As they say, content is king, but it can’t be just any content. First and foremost, you want people to find your site and then you want them to stay on your site. What this means for the website owner is that you can’t just slap nonsense on your site and expects to get business.

Even if the content brings visitors to your site, they won’t stay nor will they buy if you don’t give them good reason to. This means that not only does your web content need to be written with SEO in mind, but it needs to provide quality information for your customers.

This gets us to the point that if you want affordable SEO content on your website, you either need to be well versed in writing and SEO and write your own content or you need to find someone else to do it for you.

Determine the possible revenue per visitor to your site and then divide that amount by the cost associated with each article. If you are writing your own content you also need to determine your per hour rate. If it takes you two hours to write a four hundred word article and you determine that your time is worth $25 per hour, that article just cost you $50. Is that affordable SEO? Only you know.

On the other hand, if you pay someone to write the article and they charge you $25 to 35 it may have cost you that amount, but you saved the $50 you would have lost and you also gained the two hours you would have used to write your article to instead spend that time making money.

Affordable SEO means different things to different people, but bottom line, being penny wise and pound foolish can be the difference between having a successful business or ending up in the unemployment line.
