Creative wishes you a very happy and prosperous Diwali

We would like o take this opportunity to wish you a very happy Deepavali. Deepavali is the celebration of Rams victory over the immensly powerful Ravana, as well as the celebration of wealth i.e knowledge. Allow us to share some wit you:

The Vikram Era that starts in the year 57 BC is not a legend but is an actual historical event that is relevant even today. It marks the defeat of the invading Sakas (The Scythians : powerful Central Asian Tribes) by King Vikramaditya when Ujjain was invaded. The Vikram Samvat calendar is popular in Northern India and in Western India. It is a lunar calendar and the year starts with the day after the new moon in Chaitra. One must remember that the Saka Era (starting 78 AD) is a misnomer in a sense since really speaking it also celebrates the defeat of Sakas, at the hands of the Satavahana King Shalivahana in the year 78 AD. The Saka era is also called Shalivahana era.

The Government of India has adopted the Saka Calendar or the Shalivahana Calender (starting 78 AD) for official purposes. The Government of Nepal, though, has been officially following the Vikram Samvat, which they call Bikram Samvat.

It is with great pride and joy that people worship and express gratitude to Devi Saraswati, Devi Lakshmi, and The Ganpati (People’s Lord). Thank them for the equanimity, the peace, the knowledge, all the learning, and all their wealth.
